HA5 is the SkinMedica product that gets less attention than TNS Advanced+ but arguably delivers more day-to-day visible benefit. At $178 for 2 oz, it’s premium, but for dehydration and mature skin, it earns the price. Here’s the honest review.

Why molecular weight matters:

A single-weight HA serum hydrates one layer. Multi-weight formulas hydrate the full skin depth, which is what you actually feel as “plump” versus “surface moist.”

What to expect, and on what timeline

HA5 is a multi-weight hyaluronic acid serum, and like every product in this category it works by holding water rather than by changing skin structure.

Timeline. The plumping is immediate and users describe it from day one. That is the hydration doing its job, and it is real, but it is also the whole mechanism. Nothing further develops over months.

The distinction worth being clear about. Dehydration lines respond to this quickly and sometimes dramatically. Fine lines with an underlying structural cause do not, and no hyaluronic acid serum will change that. If your lines soften after a shower and return by afternoon, this is your category. If they sit there regardless, spend the money on a retinoid and sunscreen.

At this price the comparison worth making is against a competent hyaluronic acid serum for a fraction of it, because the mechanism is identical.
